Listen now | It’s time for me to speak up. I tire of hearing the usual BS about homeschooling. I recently mentioned that we homeschooled our children and received the usual uninformed opinions. I responded to many of those folks to let them know more about our experience with it. But, like many things that irritate me, I decided it was time to write an article and record a podcast with my wife, who did 99.9% of our homeschooling.
Thank you for your thoughtful podcast on homeschooling. From what I have seen with friends who have home-schooled, children who are home schooling do not miss out on social interaction, especially if home school parents get their kids together on occasion, nor are they disadvantaged academically. Home schooling may also minimize bullying, which is everywhere. Home schooling parents may be able to detect it and intervene at an earlier stage before a child is traumatized. I think it is a myth that public schooling "hardens" kids, some kids carry that hurt well into adulthood. My wife and I looked into homeschooling, but decided that we did not have the desire to be full-time teachers for our kids. Overall, whatever a parent decides, that decision should be respected by parents who have chosen another path. You are not betraying your kids if you choose to homeschool them, or delegate the teaching to others.

Thanks, Peter! We definitely feel lucky that we had the privilege to do it. It's not possible for everyone.
