Back in the good old days, I created travel packing lists on paper. They worked, but they had to be created from scratch for each trip.
Then, computers and printers came along, and I could create lists and print them out. Sweet! Better, but still not the best.
Now, I create reusable packing lists on my iPhone using the free Reminders app. I have my lists on iCloud so I can also access them from my laptop and iPad.
I make sure to toggle on “Show Completed” so items don’t disappear from the list (they move to the bottom instead). And you can choose how the list is sorted. Heck, you could even print the list if you miss good ol’ paper!
The app isn’t perfect, though. I can’t duplicate and edit to create another list. So, I have to create an entirely new list for other travel purposes.
That’s the nice thing about digital lists, though. I can create lists for international trips, local weekend getaways, and longer trips that include outdoor recreation (like Alaska).
