A job is just a job
It has been 8 years since I started career coaching (and I’ve also expanded into business and life coaching).
It has been 14 years since I left my last corporate job, and I have never returned to working for someone else.
What began as a lightweight business model test (after I shut down my failed tech startup) turned into a solopreneur lifestyle business and some of the most rewarding work I've ever done.
There's nothing like helping people regain their confidence, become empowered, and feel hopeful about their future again.
These past 8 years have also been the first time I put my life before my work:
Spending more time with my family.
Making time to work out every day.
Waking up naturally without an alarm clock.
More time in nature — hiking, exploring, running, and skiing.
More adventures with my wife and children (Alaska is wild, y'all!).
Travel, travel, travel (it helps to have family in Germany).
Volunteering my time for meaningful causes.
Writing, podcasting, and meeting cool people all over the world.
I'm thankful for the experiences and people I met during my 20+ year tech career. It was often amazing, and I made some friends for life.
But it was also all-consuming, and I missed so many moments of my children's lives that I'll never get back. I sacrificed my personal life, health, and relationships to work long, long hours on all too many things that didn't matter much in the end.

We're finally realizing that our lives are more important than any corporate job. Jobs come and go. "Super important projects" get canceled every day. Companies stumble and fail, and everyone moves on.
Work hard and do amazing things. But keep it in perspective. Find a balance so you can invest in your life, love, relationships, health, and purpose.
Life is a long journey, and I hope you enjoy every single minute of it! Put yourself and those you love first. A job is just a job.
