It’s easy to lose your way in a world that is constantly telling you:
Who you should be.
What you should do.
How you should behave.
What you should look like.
What you should say or not say.
Sure, some people have useful advice to share. Yes, a few people truly do care about you and want the best for you.
But, that’s not true for everyone.
Learn how to silence the voices so you can hear yourself think and remind yourself of who you really are.
The Bukowski quote above is a reminder that the answer to what we want most is often buried in our earliest memories. Return to a time when you knew yourself, what you loved, and what you wanted before someone shut it all down and pushed you down a different path.
It’s never too late.
I’m in my 50s now and finally returning to my love of books and writing. I’m making my childhood dream come true and becoming an author.
I love writing (especially fiction)! I enjoy letting my mind run wild to create worlds, characters, and scenes. Long ago, I was told it was a silly path to follow, so I abandoned it to pursue a more traditional career path.
I guess I’m now coming full circle to become what that young boy wanted me to be.
What did the young you want to be?
What did you want out of life?
It's never too late to be true to that dream.
