I had a bit of a close call last week during a hike. You can see what I encountered in the photo below.
I had kneeled down to take photos of wildflowers near the trail when I noticed a motion in the grass under my left hand. My first reaction was, “Oh, a snake.” I’m not afraid of snakes. But then I noticed the tail and said, “Oh no!!! A rattlesnake!!!”
Luckily, it decided to be chill and move away from me, as you can see in the video below.
This encounter was a good reminder to keep living a life with no regrets! We were miles away from help, so a venomous snakebite might have had a tragic ending.
Many years ago, when I was in the last few months of my corporate career, I had lots of regrets. If I had died at that moment (e.g., heart attack, car accident), I would have turned into an extremely vengeful spirit. 😂
I had a health scare back then that woke me up. I was spending most of my day in a corporate job that was slowly killing me — my spirit and my physical form. I was spending 2-4 hours a day on crowded freeways to commute to that unpleasant job.
However, now I can say honestly that I would be at peace if I died today. The last 14 years of my life have been amazing. Thank you, solopreneurship, and moving out of the city!
Can you say the same? Would you be at peace?
Of course, I’d rather keep living! I haven’t hit 60 yet, and I’d love to be a grandparent one day.
But, I have been living my life to the fullest for the past few years since becoming a solopreneur running my own lifestyle business.
Even though some folks still try to control my life and steal away the hours of my days, I resist them mightily. I need my Wonderful Wandering Wednesdays with my wife. Sorry, I’m not available on Wednesdays — ever!
One of the worst things is to die with regrets. And it happens all too often.
What do you need to do today to ensure that doesn't happen to you in the future?
